How Many Monthly Dividend Paying Stocks?

How Many Monthly Dividend Paying Stocks?

I took a few minutes this morning and did a search to find how many stocks make a monthly dividend payment. Take a look at this quick video to find out how many monthly dividend stocks are out there – you might be surprised!

I’ll be keeping an updated list of individual companies that pay monthly dividends on the Monthly Dividend Payers Page.

Tis’ the Season for Giving – Cash Dividend Bonuses that is…

So I’ve left the DDI Portfolio mostly on auto-pilot over the last few months while I’ve tended to a death in the family, but upon my return I’ve been greeted with some good news!

Just last week I received a Special Dividend from Wynn Resorts (ticker: WYNN) good for holiday stack cash dividend increase passive income daily dividend investor$7.50/share! And this week things continued to get better with news that Las Vegas Sands (ticker: LVS) is going to pay a $2.75/share special dividend *and* increase the annual dividend by 40%. WOW.

To top things off, Costco Wholesale (ticker: COST) adds another whopping $7.00 special dividend to the list.

What’s interesting about this special dividend is that even though Costco has approximately $4.6 billion in cash, more than enough to pay out the $3 billion plus dividend, they chose instead to take advantage of the low interest rates available, and have sold bonds to finance the one-time payout. While I would have preferred that they pay a smaller dividend and use the cash on the balance sheet – as a small investor I don’t get a whole lot of say in the matter.

Holiday Bonus

All together these extra payouts are adding up to a nice holiday bonus! You know what, I’ll take it.

holiday shopping more cash gifts wealth creation passive income ddi blogWhile extra dividend payments at the end of the year aren’t all that uncommon, there is a lot of talk about how the pending “Fiscal Cliff” and the possible tax increases that will go with it are encouraging more companies with extra cash on their balance sheets to throw off generous one-time or special dividends.

For those that follow the “Special Dividend” payers, this is the time of year when National Presto (ticker: NPK) has typcially announced their own special dividend, as I wrote about this time last year.

Time For Economic Improvement

With all this extra cash floating around, I’m looking forward to heading into December and the remainder of the holiday season, hopeful that the bonus payouts will continue to be generous. If the President and Congress can reach an agreement on how to manage the pending tax increases before  Christmas, it’s likely we’ll get several gifts in our stock portfolios stockings this year:

  • Increased Dividend Payouts
  • Special Dividends
  • Rising Share Prices

happy holidays daily dividend investor ddi blog income passiveI’ll remain optimistic that the coming months and the new year will bring continued economic improvement for all of us.

Here’s to continued continued success in passive dividend investing!

Dividend Increases For Monday June 4th, 2012 – Electricity & Real Estate

add new items daily dividend investorAfter another rough week of declines in the broader markets, we have two companies announcing dividend increases this morning. When I´m looking to add new positions to my income portfolio, the first place I look is at the list of dividend increases for the year. Even with the DOW off almost 300 points for the day and down over 1000 points from worried stock drops dow down passive income stream keeps flowing daily dividend investorit’s high just a few months back, I’m not worried because the income just keeps on coming even on the down days.

As a matter of fact, if you’re going to be a stock investor, it’s days like today that should make you happy, not sad. These are the days when you find bargains or at minimum you get that much closer to a point you are willing to buy at.

The market has remained decidedly negative and I’m not going to even try and call a bottom, but I will start looking for good buys to add to the DDI portfolio next week.

In The Mean Time

Here is today’s good news in the form of 4 companies with stock dividend increases:

Daktronics, Inc. (ticker: DAKT) operates worldwide designing, manufacturing, and selling various electronic display systems and related products, as well as providing related maintenance and professional services. DAKT only pays semi-annually and had very minor 1/2cent raise from $0.11 to $0.115 giving it a current yield of ~ 3.5%

It’s definitely not easy to buy when the market drops – it seems to go against human nature to buy when something is losing value. But the brave ones who buy when shares sell off are the ones to reap the rewsun fun no internet daily dividend cash flows when you are awayards when  prices increase.  Because I primarily reinvest my dividend income, I’m not as worried about losing my principal when buying new positions. If I have cash in the account I’ll look to add to my positions because I know there will be more cash in the account in a few days if the market continues to drop. I’ll always have another chance to add to my holdings, even if I buy too soon.

With Summer just around the corner it’s good to take a break from all the financial worries when markets are acting so crazy… Put down that laptop and pull the plug on your email – it’s time to enjoy some sun and fun. The markets and your dividends will still be there on Monday….talk soon!

Dividend Increases For Thursday, May 24, 2012 – Fashion Rules The Day

After a quiet day with no dividend increases on Wednesday, investors were rewardedfashion brands dsw ralph lauren prada gucci dolce passive income stream retire young today with four companies announcing that they would increase the amount of their cash payouts.

Included in today’s mix were two fashion and clothing related names, DSW (ticker: DSW) Designer Show Warehouse and Ralph Lauren (ticker: RL) along with two insurance related names: W.R. Berkley (ticker: WRB) and Independence Holding Co. (ticker: IHC).

Doing The Research

As I’ve mentioned before, I take a few minutes to do a quick background check and lookstock investing requires research daily dividend investor creates passive cash flow stream for life over a few key financial facts for each company that makes a daily dividend increase announcement. As I was looking at DSW the shoe retailer, I was actually surprised to learn that the company has been in business since 1917, almost 100 years.

When I find a company in a niche field, like selling shoes that has also been in business for over 50 years that is often a good sign that there may be a trend in long term dividend payments to shareholders, possibly even increasing dividends. Looking back to 2008 at Ddesigner shoe warehouse dividend increase may passive income portfolio names blogSW’s dividend history, I found that the company has only paid one small dividend until reviving the payout at the beginning of 2012.

I’ll add DSW to my watch list for potential investments, however, they’ll have to establish a longer term series of dividend payments before becoming a member of the DDI portfolio.

When A Dividend Increase Isn’t

things dont go as planned investment ideas bad daily passive income streamWhile there were a couple of companies that announced initial dividends today, Georgia Gulf (ticker: GGC) and Pacific Coast Oil Trust (ticker: ROYT), there were no companies announcing dividend increases today.

Normally on days when there are companies announcing a dividend increase I take a few minutes to look over each company to see if it might be worthy of further research for inclusion in the Daily Dividend Investor Portfolio. However, since there was little to research today, I took a few minutes to look back over some of the more recent increases of the last week or so.
